Joes Still Winless Against Mariners, 4-10

Joe’s Can’t Hold Off Mariners, Lose 4-10

The Hamilton Joes are fresh off the All-Star break and look to finish the regular season strong. They will be tasked with the Grand Lake Mariners, who are looking to secure the number one overall seed in the GLSCL. 


Joes and Mariners would be scoreless for the first three innings at Montgomery Field. Mariners would strike first with Matthew Hutchinson’s two-run single in the bottom of the fourth inning. They would extend their lead in the fifth with a two-run home run to left field to double the lead with one swing. CJ Filipek would hit a double to center field to score another run to lead 5-0 going into the sixth inning. 


Joes would fight back in the sixth with Noah Kubasky drawing a bases-loaded walk. That would be followed by a double from Preston Zumwalt to score two more runs, and they would cut the Mariners' lead to two. Unfortunately, the Joes' offence was not able to keep up with the Mariners, as they would go on to score at least one run every inning to end the game. 


Joes would go on to lose 4-10 to the Mariners. Joes will have a chance to respond in this interesting series. Joes will have two games left in the regular season against the Mariners, and then they will open up the playoffs with the Mariners again for a best-of-two series. They have a chance to gain some confidence tomorrow, and they will host the Mariners at Foundation Field in the last regular-season home game, with first pitch starting at 7:05 pm

Joes Surrender to Scouts, 5-0

Joes finished the last set of the year to the Xenia Scouts. Scouts are coming off a win where the Joes struggled to produce and their first win in July. Joes are still trying to win the series after the series going even at 1-1. Scouts would strike first in the bottom of the third with Bo Sulley coming around to score on a passed ball. He would reach off a single and steal second and third before scoring. It was a quiet game from both offenses combined. Both sides would struggle all game. Both teams would hit an RBI, but the Scouts were able to get runs in regardless. Scouts would be able to get runs in from walks, passed balls, and errors. They would score their second run with a walk from Dawson Cleveland to score Steve Schneider for their second run of the game. Mayo Fernandez would come around to score later in the inning from a throwing error from Alex Gay to make it a 3-0 game. Joe's pitching would still struggle in this game, allowing ten walks as a unit. Joe’s would surrender two more runs to make it 5-0 as they weren’t able to put any runs on the board in this game and lost 5-0. Joes will go into the All-Star break with their playoff spot secured. Joes will start a series with Grand Lake to finish the year and to start the playoffs.
