Joes Win Final Game at Home, 4-2

Joes Pitching Dominates in Win Versus Mariners, 4-2

Hamilton Joes hosted the Grand Lake Mariners in their final game of the regular season at home. The last game of the season will be played on the road at Grand Lake tomorrow night.


Mariners would get out in front early against Joe’s starting pitcher, Hudson Boring, with two two-out, two-strike, RBI singles to take an early lead in the first. Boring would get out of the inning his way and strike out three batters. Jones would bat in the bottom half of the first, and Brady Bowen would get a four-pitch walk to get the first base runner of the inning. He would go to second on a passed ball and move to third on a fly out to center from Parker Falkenstein. Owen McKoon would drive in Bowen to cut the lead in half, 2-1. 


Scoring would cease from both sides as runs came at a premium this game. Jack Will and Hudson Boring would settle in for the next couple of innings with minimal trouble on the base paths. The bottom of the fifth would be the turning point of the game. Brewer would reach on a walk, and Zumwalt would hit a base hit to start the inning. Will would get pulled for Cournell Bennett McCoy, and he would walk Noah Kubasky to load the bases. AJ Gundler would get jammed but still muscle a single over the head of shortstop Forrest Day to bring in one run. 


The game would get really fun and confusing after Bowen's at-bat.  He would go down looking on strikes, and The Joe’s Head Coach Davis Schaefer would let Don Hammond, home plate umpire, hear it. He would get a warning and stay in the game. Parker Falkenstein would hit next, and he would have two strikes and get a pitch from McCoy that was good-looking but called a ball. Brian Wright, Head Coach of Grand Lake, was also fed up with the strike zone, and he said some things. Both benches had warnings, and the game would resume. Falkenstein would rip a double down the left field line to score two and give the Joes a two-run lead. Wright would get tossed in the next half inning after a groundout to start the inning. 


Pitching from both sides was in complete control for the rest of the game. Not a lot of stressful innings to end the game with a final score of 4-2. Joe’s finally gets a win versus Grand Lake after a couple of tries and has a chance to win the series in the rubber match at Grand Lake starting at 6:35 pm.

Joes Surrender to Scouts, 5-0

Joes finished the last set of the year to the Xenia Scouts. Scouts are coming off a win where the Joes struggled to produce and their first win in July. Joes are still trying to win the series after the series going even at 1-1. Scouts would strike first in the bottom of the third with Bo Sulley coming around to score on a passed ball. He would reach off a single and steal second and third before scoring. It was a quiet game from both offenses combined. Both sides would struggle all game. Both teams would hit an RBI, but the Scouts were able to get runs in regardless. Scouts would be able to get runs in from walks, passed balls, and errors. They would score their second run with a walk from Dawson Cleveland to score Steve Schneider for their second run of the game. Mayo Fernandez would come around to score later in the inning from a throwing error from Alex Gay to make it a 3-0 game. Joe's pitching would still struggle in this game, allowing ten walks as a unit. Joe’s would surrender two more runs to make it 5-0 as they weren’t able to put any runs on the board in this game and lost 5-0. Joes will go into the All-Star break with their playoff spot secured. Joes will start a series with Grand Lake to finish the year and to start the playoffs.
