Joes Reach Twenty Wins, Win 8-4
Joes Get Right Versus Scouts, 8-4
The Hamilton Joes start the second-to-last series of the year versus the Xenia Scouts. This is the final series before the All-Star break, starting on Tuesday next week.
The Joes' offense was aggressive early with Brady Bowen scoring on a wild pitch in the top of the first inning. Owen McKoon would score in the same fashion an inning later, and the Joes would lead 2-0. Joes starting pitcher, Dean Brown, only needed one of those runs as he was lights out tonight. Brown threw five shutout innings with eleven strikeouts.
Brady Bowen would lead off the top of the fifth inning with a double. Ryder Kirtley would walk to have two baserunners on for Noah Kubasky. Kubasky would rip a double into left field. Bowen scored, but Kirtley would get thrown out at the plate. In the top of the sixth, Parker Falkenstein would knock in Gavin Brewer on a base hit. Bowen would have his third hit of the day with a two-run single. Joes would take a commanding lead and would score another run from a sacrifice fly in the seventh from Preston Zumwalt.
Joes pitching was solid the entire game, with Brown being unhittable to start the game. Levin and Copenhaver pitched a combined three shutout innings. Connell would have a bit of a hiccup with giving up four runs in the bottom of the ninth, but Caden Clark was able to shut it down. Joes would win with a final score of 8-4.
Scouts will travel to Foundation Field for the Joes' second-to-last regular season home game. First pitch starts at 7:05 pm.
