Joes Lose a tough one versus Scouts, 12-5

Joe's 20 Walks Lead Scouts to Victory, 12-5

The Xenia Scouts played game two of the final series before the All-Star break at Foundation Field as the Hamilton Joes hosted their second-to-last home game of the regular season.

The Scouts would get on the board in the top of the second inning with Cole Rohlmeier working a bases-loaded walk to score the game's first run. Little did the Joes know, but walks would come to haunt them in this game. Cooper Schutte would score on a wild pitch to increase the lead to 2-0. Owen Roether would come up to the plate with two runners in scoring position in the top of the fourth, and he would deliver a two-run single to left as the Scouts would take a commanding 4-0 lead.

Joes would get one back after Owen McKoon would reach first base and would get to third on a throwing error on pitcher Adam Laski, after he tried to pick off McKoon at first. He would come around to score after an AJ Beggs groundout. Scouts would get the run back in the next half-inning with Jack Drew scoring on a wild pitch. Brady Bowen would come up big for the Joes as he ripped a double that barely stayed fair down the right field line, and two would come around to score, bringing the score to 5-3.

The walks would start to really take over this game as Joe's pitching as a whole really struggled to have good command of the baseball. Joe's pitching would allow twenty walks over the course of the game and had a total of 266 pitches thrown during the game. Scout would take advantage of that and score four runs from a combination of bases-loaded walks and wild pitches to take a 9-3.

A couple more runs would be scored by both teams, but the Joes would eventually lose 12-5. This would be the first win in the month of July for the Scouts and a really tough game for the Joes. They will have a chance to rebound tomorrow, July 19th, at Grady Field. First pitch will be at 7:05 pm.
