Joes Drop the Second Game of the Doubleheader, 5-3
After winning game one of the doubleheader, The Hamilton Joes look to take game two against the Muskegon Clippers. A chance for the Joes to get right after winning a close game in extra innings just thirty minutes previously.
Joes would get up to a three run lead early in the first inning from a two run single from Gavin Brewer and Preston Zumwalt scoring on a wild pitch. Starting pitcher for the Joes, Samuel Rufenacht, had a great outing. He threw four innings with six strikeouts while only giving up one earned run.
The Clippers would rally against Erik Ronquist in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run inning starting with a lead-off double from Nolan Laskey. The next two batters would be hit by a pitch to load the bases. Cade Thelen would hit a sacrifice fly to score a runner and a two-run single from Ben Meyers to even up the score at three.
Clipper would score two more in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead with RBI singles from Meyers and Laskey. Joes were unable to score any runs after the first because the starting pitcher for the Clippers, Brady Young, almost threw a complete game with six and two-thirds innings with ten strikeouts.
Joes will have two days off and will welcome the Lima Locos on Tuesday at Foundation Field.
