Joes Drop Game One of the Championship Rematch to Locos, 7-1

Joes Lose Game One of the Series to the Red Hot Locos, 7-1

The Hamilton Joes welcomed the Lima Locos to Foundation Field for the rematch of the Great Lake Collegiate Summer Leagues Finals.

The Locos would get things started quickly with an RBI double from Cameron Greene in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead. Starting pitcher for the Hamilton Joes, Sam Eppley, looked good early with four strikeouts through two and a third, but could not find the zone after that. Eppley couldn’t make it out of the inning and allowed a pair of walks and three base hits from Elijah Buffaloe, Gabe Gonzalez, and Nick Fumich. Locos would lead 6-0.

The Joes would get one back in the bottom half of the inning with back-to-back doubles from Brady Bowen and Noah Wagster. Runners would be left stranded, and the base running mistakes would be a nightmare. Four runners were caught stealing tonight, and two of them came from pick-offs by Wyatt Dion.

On the bright side for the Joes, the bullpen was excellent tonight. Great outings from Joshua Isaacs, Braylon Connell, and Dylan Kaiser only allowed one more run to come around to score, five strikeouts, and two walks.

The Hamilton Joes will be back at Foundation Field tomorrow as they try to even up the series with the red-hot Lima Locos, who have now won nine in a row.
