The Win Streak Continues for the Joes, 14-5

Joes Take the Series Against Copperheads, 14-5

The Southern Ohio Copperheads made the long trek to Foundation Field as The Hamilton Joes welcomed them in town for game two of the set. Joes have won the past five games and look to extend the streak to six coming into tonight.

The immense heat played a big factor in tonight's contest, with Hamilton Joes' starting pitcher, Alex Gay, not being able to make it out of the first and getting pulled three batters in because of the heat. Dylan Kaiser would take his place and get through the inning with no harm done.

Joes would strike first with Brady Bowen reaching on an error that scored Kamden McAlpin. Joe's would keep the bats hot in the second with a bases-clearing double from McAlpin, who took third on a bobble from Zack Reeder, cutting the throw off from the outfield. McAlpin would score a batter later when Alex Koelling hit a base hit. Koelling would come around to score later in the inning from a Gavin Brewer single. Joe would lead 6-0.

Copperheads would get one back in the top of the third from a wild pitch from Dylan Kaiser. The Joes' offense would have another great inning in the bottom half, starting with Parker Falkenstein reaching base on an error. Preston Zumwalt was able to score from the error, and McAlpin would clear the bases again with another double, this time only scoring two. McAlpin would score on a groundout to second from Koelling.

Joes would have multiple opportunities to close the game out early, but the Copperheads would stick around in the later innings of the game. They would cause a scare late in the game with some mental errors from the Joes defense in the top of the eighth. Copperheads would add on three runs to make it 11-5.

Joe's offence tried to get the run rule in the bottom of the eighth, with them counteracting the runs scored by the Copperheads, bringing the game to the final score of 14-5. The Joes will travel back to Athens, Ohio to begin a mini three-game road trip, with the other two games being played against Flag City on Friday and Saturday. Joes will return home on July 5th to close out the series with Flag City as they try to keep the winning streak alive on the road.
