Monarchs Best the Joes, 6-5
Monarchs Win Long-Awaited Game Versus Joes
The Hamilton Joes traveled to Michigan for the last series against the Michigan Monarchs. The game today was a continuation of a game that started at Foundation Field when lightning canceled the 5-5 ballgame.
The game would resume in the bottom of the fifth with the Joes threatening with two runners on and two outs. AJ Beggs would strike out in a nine-pitch at-bat to end the inning and start the day. In the top of the seventh, Maddux Bach would work a walk with one out. He would steal second and third to put the Monarchs ninety feet away from the lead. Ryan McKay would fly out to center, and it would be deep enough for Bach to score what would be the game-winning run. Joes would go one-two-three in the seventh to wrap up the game.
Joes and Monarchs would start game two of a doubleheader that would be suspended in the fourth inning. That game will be continued and covered on Thursday, the 16th. Joes would be trailing 7-4 before the suspension. Joes will play a doubleheader tomorrow with the Monarchs starting at 3:05 pm.
