Joes Take Both Games of Doubleheader Against Scouts
Joes Sweep the Doubleheader
The Hamilton Joes hosted the Xenia Scouts in a doubleheader at Foundation Field. The first game was a continuation of the game that got rained out yesterday.
The Joes wouldn’t skip a beat when the game resumed. The big games from Parker Falkenstein and Owen McKoon continued with 4 RBIs for each. The nail in the coffin for the Scouts came from Preston Zumwalt when he got a high fastball and crushed it over the left field fence. The bullpen for the Joes was fantastic, only allowing one hit over four innings before the Scouts would get run ruled to end the first game in only seven innings. The final score was 16-3
Game two would start about forty minutes after, and it was a pitching duel between Dean Brown of the Joes and Jaydon Geraci. Scoring was kept to a minimum with the Joes only being able to earn two runs, but it was enough run support for Dean Brown. Brown pitched five shutout innings, seven strikeouts, and three walks.
The runs for the Joes came from a triple from Kamden McAlpin, and he would come around to score from a wild pitch. Parker Falkenstein was able to score on a fielder's choice groundout from AJ Beggs. Kamden McAlpin would later get thrown out of the game for arguing balls and strikes. That's all the Joes could muster against Geraci, who had a solid outing, five and a third innings pitched, and a pair of strikeouts.
Erik Ronquist was nails out of the bullpen in relief for Dean Brown. Ronquist was able to preserve the shutout with two innings of work and helped the Joes secure two wins in one day. The brooms will be out as the Joes try to sweep the Xenia Scouts in Xenia tomorrow. First pitch will be at 5:05 pm.
