Joes Brought the Brooms to the Scouts, Won 14-1
Joe's Complete the Sweep, 14-1
The Hamilton Joes traveled to Xenia, Ohio, for game three of the series against the Xenia Scouts. The Joes were able to complete the sweep with a great performance from Dale Ellis and the Joes offense.
The pitching in this game and the series as a whole was great. Joe's pitching only allowed four runs in the series. Dale Ellis was able to throw a complete game because of the run rule. He was excellent with seven innings pitched, two strikeouts, and only giving up two hits.
On the other side of the field, the offence really stepped it up this series. 32 runs were scored in total for the Joes this series. The runs would start in the fourth inning when Ryder Kirtley and Brady Bowen had RBI singles to bring in two runs, and Noah Wagster’s sacrifice fly to get an early 3-0 lead. Owen McKoon would continue his big series with a two-run home run to left field to make it a 5-0 game. Noah Wagster would ground out to the pitcher in the sixth to bring in another run and increase the lead to 6-0
The Joes would cap off the day with an eight-run inning in the seventh. Joes would get the bases loaded and have three RBI singles from Ryder Kirtley, Brady Bowen, and Eric Fleetwood. Noah Wagster and Alex Koelling would have two sacrifice flies to score runs. Lastly, the Joes would be able to walk in two runs with walks from Alec Halter and Gavin Brewer getting hit by the pitch. The Joes would be up 14-0 going into the bottom of the seventh.
The only run the Xenia Scouts could get was scored on an error by Brady Bowen, and Steven Schneider was able to score from that. Joes would still easily close out the game and complete the sweep of the Xenia Scouts. Joes next game will be in Athens, Ohio, when they play the Southern Ohio Copperheads on Tuesday night.
