Joes Take 3 out of 4 in Two Days Against Locos

Joes Take Season Series With a Doubleheader Sweep.

The Lima Locos made their way down to Foundation Field in Hamilton Ohio to finish up the second day of doubleheaders. Locos and Joes would split in yesterday's doubleheader and the season series would be tied 2-2

Game one of today was more of the same with what happened yesterday. A pitching duel was between Kyle Binder of the Joes and B.C. Harrison of the Locos. Locos would get to Binder first in the top of the second with a leadoff single from Cameron Greene. He would advance to second on a balk from Binder. Greene would steal third base and find his way home on a single from Gabe Gonzalez.

Brady Bowen would get the Joes started in the bottom of the fourth by drawing a walk against Harrison. Owen McKoon would hit a single to get Bowen to second. Harrison would pick off to second, and it would get by the second baseman, Parker Dastou, and would move the runners forward a base. A.J Beggs would ground out to Dastou, but Bowen would score on the play.

The score would not budge through regulation, and it would head to extras. Pitchers were lights out in the eighth, and it would go to sudden death, and the Joes would be right but up to hit. Bowen made the last out, so he would start on first base due to the sudden death rules. Bowen would take off for second and barely get his hand on the base before he got tagged to put a runner in scoring position. McKoon would hit a hard-hit single to left field, so Bowen would have to hold a third. A.J Beggs would be intentionally walked to load the bases with no outs and bring up Ryder Kirtley. Kirtley would line one back up the middle to end the game. Joes would scratch and claw their way to victory in game one.

Game two rolled around, and the Joe's offense would get hot. A.J Beggs would hit a double to lead off the bottom of the second. Kirtley would draw the free pass and get to first. Both runners would do a double steal with no throw to either second or third. Then, Andrew Onuegbu would balk in a run to score Beggs and move Kirtley to third. A.J Gundler would bring in Kirtley with a sacrifice fly to give the Joes a 2-0 lead.

Hudson Boring was the starter for the Joes today, and he looked unhittable for most of the game. He was able to throw a complete game with eight strikeouts. His curveball was buckling batters left and right. He only needed the two runs in the second, but the offence gave him some more in the fifth. Bowen would hit a two-run single, and Beggs would follow that with another double to give the Joes a five-run lead.

Joe would be able to take this one home and go 3-1 in two days. Joes will have a day off before they welcome the Muskegon Clippers to town for three games in two days.
